12/05/12: ‘Send the drag queen to the bear night!’ They must have kiki’d in the QX office before shipping me down south to Energy Bears at Barcode in Vauxhall last weekend.
But down I trotted, ready to get down dirty with a load of sexy men. I was pleasantly surprised with the party atmosphere – this boys know how to shake it. I didn’t feel so out of place when I bumped into a few familiar faces from the clubs I’m usually found in and soon realised this new club night is all about the great music – tonight courtesy of DJ’s Rob White, Mickey Galiano and Paul Coals.
I flirted with some cubs and otters (this is all so new to me) and admired the glitter ball meets industrial vibe in the interior design – I might do that in my flat, actually. I bypassed the dark room (I might act all slutty, but that’s all a front for my acute self confidence issues… maybe) and hopped back in the car, happy to be am honorary bear from a few hours of action.
No idea what you call a drag queen bear in gay terminology (a honey badger?!) for one night only, I was it.
