G-A-Y: KERI HILSON & THE OVERTONES

04/06/11: How much entertainment can Jeremy Joseph squeeze into one club? Not content with Saturday nights at G-A-Y already featuring over five rooms of varied music and fun, last Saturday was a perfect example of the secret to the club brand’s success:… take one super cool headliner straight in from the USA, add one of the UK’s most kitsch (and certainly sexy) pop groups, chuck in camp concept (in this case a Jumble Sale) and then add a charity spin, and… ta-dah!… you have a another raucous evening at G-A-Y!

The Overtones kicked-off proceedings with four songs, the best being an acapella take on Cee-Lo Green’s modern classic, ‘Fuck You’. We haven’t seen a collection of such handsome blokes in suits since we spent the afternoon hanging around Liverpool Street Station toilets.

Next up, USA R&B star Keri Hilson had the crowd in uproar as she presented a mega-mix of hits as well as current track, ‘Pretty Girl Rock’. What a showgirl! “We wanted her for the last two years,” Jeremy told us, “she’s an ambassador for MTV’s Staying Alive campaign and she was impressed with our fundraising for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. The reaction she got was incredible. I was really pleased.”

Elsewhere, the club went mental for the generous donations of you, the gay public, at the G-A-Y Jumble Sale, as six stalls managed to bring in over £6,000 adding to the £62,463 that’s already been raised for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Big cheers all round for all those who gave so generously.
