21/06/14: East Bloc kicked off summer proper with Martyn Fitzgerald’s Handsome featuring Terry Farley, Dave Kendrick and Fidel sexing up the main room as Mistamaker and Sugarbear did double dirty duty in the RnB back shack.
Junior Boy’s Own Farley followed by Kendrick spun deep house techno-soul, righteous vocals soaring against technified synth. Multi-layered grooves notched up higher and higher that had the ravers twisting more shapes than the Keith Haring murals glowing neon neath the sweaty flourescent pink black walls.
“It epitomizes freedom of expression!” gleamed Jules, Dave Kendrick’s bestie of 20 years. Fidel slapped up fresh-vibe grinds before we bopped into Mistamaker and Sugarbear’s backroom funkatorium that had our hands, feet and hair in the air all night.
Dropdead gorgeous DJ Nita Aviance swung by to anounced the upcoming release of the Carry Nation compilation. Superstars Mateo and that glorious peacock Fifi LaTrue were on hand to “make Handsome–beautiful.” Well done!
Handsome returns to East Bloc on Saturday 19th July.
