28/08/15: Inferno at Dalston Superstore, with its Heaven meets Hell theme, felt a bit like the opening lines to Madonna’s seminal classic, ‘Girl Gone Wild’. “Oh, my god, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee.
And I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven, and the pains of hell, but most of all, because I love Thee, And I want so badly to be good.’… Camp! Resident deity Lewis G Burton was on form, serving us iamamiwhoami realness.
Musically I had what can only be described as a religious epiphany when ‘Work’ by Ciara came on (snaps to JVP and Alfonso for playing such underrated gems).
While upstairs was a poppers o’clock affair, there was a rather more bacchanalian feel downstairs.
Four tequila shots down and I was worshipping at the high altar of camp and feeling myself to songs I’ll never know the name of – expertly curated by DJ AZF, B2B, Venice Calypso & Jack France.
At the end of the night we were thrust out into Sodom and Gomorrah (read: Kingsland Road), glowing in the religious fervour of Inferno.
