MISS TG DIAMOND 2011

29/10/11: Saturday 29th October saw the Miss TG Diamond 2011 pageant take place in the rather splendid 229 Club on Great Portland Street, hosted and organised by the very sexy Miss Dee Sanchez, who also wowed the crowd with her rendition of ‘Diamonds Are Forever’ and ‘This Is My Life’.

The 12 candidates – the preferred word for contestants – strutted their stuff, sequins and feathers a plenty.

This was two and half hours of pure, high end entertainment with the girls put through their paces across various categories such as Precious and Fantasy (which included everything from Supergirl to a Unicorn via Marie Antoinette), all stylish ladies of the night and creations bordering on the avant-garde. Beauty and Evening Wear were also fiercely fought sections but there was no cat fighting here just hugs all round and tears as each of the winners was announced.

When it came to the girls being interviewed our hostess drew from the candidates emotional responses that covered issues of being transgender in both the work place and in society, reactions from their families and how they had dealt with the actual process of being themselves.

The competition was a close run race with the final winners proving to be a popular choice with the audience:

Venus Brum is Miss Aquamarine 2011 (4th Runner-up)

Mika Mae De la Vega is Miss Emerald 2011 (3rd Runner-up)

Farrah Night is Miss Sapphire 2011 (2nd Runner-up)

Saskia Cyanide is Miss Ruby 2011 (1st Runner-up)

Yeveah Altieri is Miss TG Diamond 2011 – Miss Pyrite

Vivienne Robles Lacson is Miss TG Diamond Plus! 2011

The interval cabaret, provided my Miss Geri Love, Alexa Mendoza, Ms Huggie Doll and a rather intriguing male singer called Mr Viktor kept the audience entertained as the judges, who include Miss Vicki Lee from the Way Out Club and Mr Philip de Vera who was the main sponsor of the evening, deliberated.

One of the backing tracks used during the night was ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)’ which was totally appropriate… A glorious celebration of the TG/TS community!
