17/07/11: Rewind five months to my first Dalston Superstore appearance and I’ve been itching to return… A lost boy I ended up being welcomed by a Chanel clad cutie, arriving just in time as insanely pocket-sized ‘Beth Ditto’ was standing in front of me. Every possible being had poured into the building dancing away to Amanda Pecs, R’n’B, pop and a cocktail featuring a dash of everything else. The basement club was like an oven, but we didn’t care because the music was crazy good with Mikki Most and Jonjo mixing some amazing chunky electro beats in preparation for the second pocket-sized celebrity of the night, the inimitable Robyn, who played a surprise DJ set. The fresh-faced beauty sent the crowd into overdrive starting with 80’s electro pop before dropping an insane tribal/techno sound. Lastly was Hannah Holland bringing us back to electro, which had people jumping like they were in a padded cell! The deliciously sexy crowd was so friendly and welcoming that we made our fair share of new friends along the way. ϑ It’s been a long time since this writer has danced ‘til dawn but it couldn’t be helped, its WORTH the hangover!
