PARIS ACID BALL

07/09/13: Dalston Superstore is one venue in town where – if you’re anyone – you’ve really got to make an entrance.

And babes, we’re someone, we work for QX. So, last Saturday night we hired out a chopper and parachuted down to the Kingsland Road from 38,000 feet in our wig, pearls and shades. Landing perfectly on the Superstore’s hallowed awning itself, we bounced gracefully off onto the pavement in our seven inch magenta heels, to the somewhat shocked stares of the snaking queue lined up around the block for the infamous Paris Acid Ball.

Discarding our straps with a flick of our weave, we strode into the heaving party, air-kissing the beautiful kids with the lists on the door, and dove into the treasures, beats and magic beyond. Upstairs Horse Meat Disco’s Luke Howard plus Superstore residents Dan Beaumont and Rokk were joining the dots between disco and classic house sounds, and the great and the glittering and the locals and the homos were everywhere mingling, dancing and smiling.

After molesting our favourite sultry barman into making us an uber-strength Hackney Iced Tea we navigated the winding stairs down to the basement, cocktail umbrella in ear, where Queen of the Acid Ball herself Hannah Holland was holding her bass-bumping court, before Classic’s Luke Soloman took the reins for a bouncy session.

As we threw our shapes, and thought this can’t get any better, Honey Dijon turned up unannounced for an hour-long set, keeping a full dancefloor until lights up. Stonkered!
