PELUCAS Y TACONES
(WIGS ‘N’ HEELS)

08/09/12: Shoreditch channelled the thrill of Almodovar and La Movida as QX Club News strapped on our sling backs and clacked over to Concrete for the latest anarchic outing from Pelucas y Tacones – aka Spanish sensation, Wigs and Heels, last Saturday.

Celebrating seven years of killer pumps and shameless shyckles, a flamboyant fiesta of a birthday bash saw DJ/promoter Alejandro ‘Alex’ Asencio taking on compadre, Pepi, at the decks for a greatest hits attack of Iberian kitsch, retro smashes and soap opera torch songs that had the throng teetering in their weaves ‘n’ stillies like swarthy Dolly Partons.

We may not have previously encountered the likes of diva royalty, Rocio Jurado, or electro-stompers, Mecano, but that sure didn’t stop us mixing it with those sexy Spaniards and technicolour trannies amidst the dancefloor pile-up.

Meanwhile, there was more excitement to come as glam-punk stalwarts of the 80s Madrid scene, Die Blondinen, hit the stage for an incendiary set of near hysteria-inducing anthems, before the outrageous antics continued into the small hours at one of the most fun-packed fixtures in town…  Watch this space for details of the next party!
