PIN UP

20/04/11: Hold the front page! Newsflash! Stop the press! Here’s the thing: Not all gays only go clubbing at 5am, dancing around topless under railway arches.

Shocking, I know, but apparently there are other forms of queer life away from the villages of Soho, Vauxhall and Shoreditch. Case in point, new night ‘Pin Up’.

Last week we high-heeled it over to Mayfair’s Funky Buddha for the launch night of this new monthly session. Now, we know what you’re thinking: Funky Buddha is usually the destination for footballer’s wives wannabes, however, last Wednesday saw a collection of smartly attired gays turn it out for a night of funked-up house from DJs Mikey D, Renato Porto and La Gosse.

It started off slow, but as the Soho bars closed by midnight the gays flocked in to the flash venue as Lizzie France sung out with a rousing PA of new and classic hits. Keep an eye out for this one. Pin Up returns at the end of May – see QX for further details in the coming weeks.

Check out more photos from this event and plan your next night out, all in the palm of your hand with the ‘QX Gay London’ iPhone app. Available to download FREE from the iTunes app store.
