04/09/15: We were more than delighted to pop down to the first birthday party of resident DJs Paul Woods, self-described “spooky old bird” Jon Pleased Wimmin and Scotch spunk Kristoffer Chapman’s fiesta of fab, PLEASED.
From the huge silver PLEASED balloons adorning the bar, to the jams being spun by the lovely Hi-Fi Sean and Johnny Kalifornia, to Ma Butcher snuffling around the bar, all the key ingredients were in place for a night that was set to leave us all with a beaming smile on our face. And did it? Absolutely.
It’s amazing to see what was originally intended as a one-off party grow into something so big. It’s clear from the crowd that the Pleased personnel have cultivated a loyal following who can’t do without their dose of disco, house and plain old fun , served up by these nightlife maestros.
To finish on an obvious and awful bit of wordplay, that happens to be completely accurate in this sitatuion: you guys should be very PLEASED with yourselves. PLEASED as punch. Sorry. Pun privileges revoked. Again.
