07/04/14: It’s not often the worlds of clubbing and sports collide, but collide they did last Monday as British Olympic diver Chris Mears took to the decks at Popcorn at Heaven to show us he is not just a pretty face (and he is a very pretty face) and a pert pair of buttocks in Lycra (and he does have a pert pair of buttocks in Lycra).
After a near death experience in 2009 where he was given a 5% chance of survival and told he would never dive again, Chris proved all the doctors wrong and just 18 months later went on to claim Gold at the National Cup and again at the National Championships and placed 4th at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
During his recovery he relied on music to pass the time and honed his DJing and producing skills so that he is now an accomplished mixer with a pro laptop setup, and took the crowd on a brilliant roller coaster aural ride that had arms in the air for a full 2 hours. Elsewhere, also playing to packed rooms, were residents Adam Turner, DMS Sam, Zach Burns and Little Rob making for a magnificent full-on Monday of madness as only Popcorn knows how.
