Popcorn: Cirque

10/02/14: “Come one, come all to the greatest show on earth – on heaven, rather,” beckoned ringmaster Felicia Van Cartier to a sold out house of local and international lovers and clubbers at “Circus”, Popcorn’s Monday night extravaganza at Heaven.

A cavalcade of the hottest DJs in town spun, swirled, floated and dropped some of the smoothest rhythyms and hardest bass lines in four rooms of funk as three rings of fun did the same onstage under the whip of glammaster Shade and nearly a dozen of his acrobatic circus showstoppers.

Door whore to the stars, Chrissy Darling, glistening in her own silver big top creation, sussed out the heaving crowd that curled all the way to Charing Cross Station. Under the Heavenly arches, the punters got more than their money’s worth. Main floor DJs, wicked cool Jodie Harsh and melt-in-your-mouth Adam Turner, did double duty in the front stage DJ pit braving the high-kick hi-jinks of breakdancers Ray and Bunny who were always thisclose to wearing Jodie’s wig on their foot!

In the Techno/Deep House room, Zac Burns pumped it hard for some serious shirtless muscle homeys and their bitches under the watchful eye of hostess and queen bee, Dee. Upstairs Li’l Rob propped up the Pop Room and in the back DNS served up some OMFG RnB.

Onstage the big-top multi-flex continued to delight and amaze with feats of strength by
mustachioed he-man lion-tamer Neal, ariel silk rope ballet and pole dancing featuring Tiffany and a lot of clowning around with Chris Selby and Sara doling out smoke, sweets, ballons and festoons to the confetti covered crowd. As one chisled muscleboy stretched out, suspended spread-eagled mid-air, DJ Adam Turner wished “I could do that.” “Oh hell,” I smirked, “I’ve woken up like that!”
