PUSCHA

14/07/12: With a less than satisfactory Pride and the disgrace that’s been our so-called ‘summer’, even the greatest of optimists have been drained of happiness.

We’ll even dare to say that this level of disappointment is on par with that poignant childhood moment when you discovered Action Man has no genitals.

With all the odds stacked against us, only the cross-dressing, naughty and flaunty team at Pushca could have saved us. As revellers entered the vaults of Village Underground and shook the rain from their glittery headpieces, they absorbed a kingdom of house music, podiums and a red-hot dance floor with not a badly dressed soul in sight.

After just one breath of the electric atmosphere, it was clear that the legendary name was succeeding in its mission to resurrect. For you young ones out there, Pushca was considered the ‘Studio 54’ of the 90s and after Saturday’s return, we can see exactly why. No expense was spared and the impressive attention to detail was unavoidable.

Spectacular lighting was only outshone by beautiful make-up and costumes and if an array of club performers scattered in every direction didn’t cut the mustard, there were of course, the dancing dominatrix robots guarding the DJ. Talking of which, the ecstatic crowd of all ages and sexualities were spoilt rotten by the array of legendary headliners.

Lucia Farina, Tony English, Scarlett Etienne and, of course, Grammy-winning David Morales. His mix of gay anthems and house classics were made such a pleasure to re-visit and it had nothing to do with his extraordinary pecs that were on full display behind the decks…

okay maybe a little! Pushca’s next installment is in October and we know there’s nothing that Mother Nature can do to stop them
