10/05/14: QX let rip amidst the dazzling lights of Albert Embankment as one of London’s longest running club nights rocked back to Vauxhall for its final party at Barcode last weekend.

Queer Nation has been blasting those invincible urban vibez since some of the current clientele were still in their baby bouncers and remains as popular as ever an astonishing 23 years later, drawing in the sort of crowds to give its 90s heyday a run for its money.

Featuring two rooms of rampant disco, R&B and house, highlights included the likes of host Clington doubling up for deck duties alongside Supadon and Mista Pierre with roof-raising grooves on the main floor that had the frantic throng throwing their hands up ‘til closing time.  Meanwhile, Big John Freeman delivered those big ‘n’ bumpin’ beats we love in the front bar with a barrage of funkin’ licks getting us grinding amidst the bar stools.

Elsewhere and there were plenty of sociable antics to be had on the outside smoking terrace, despite the gale force winds and rain, as the capital’s legendary booty-shaker kept the party jumpin’ into the dawn.
