Rebel Rebel

15/08/15: ‘Remember that time you pulled the hot straight indie boy from Sociology at the Student Union?

No, neither do we, but you catch our drift. A heady mix of BritPop, beer, boys (and even some bears!), the final night of notorious indie-disco institution Rebel Rebel at the Phoenix was soundtracked by Hot Chip, Blondie, Maximo Park and Dead or Alive – never before has a mosh pit of perspiring men looked quite so inviting… (who are we kidding).

The basement bar of the venue was a mixture of True Blood deep south Americana realness and Dalston dive – Lafayette would have been a fan, slinking round the periphery and selecting his prey.

After one too many Jack Daniels, and a very experimental interpretive dance to Futurehead’s ‘Hounds of Love’, you’ll hopefully forgive us as we line up another Alka-Seltzer and take a quiet moment to ourselves as we try to recover from the lingering hangover, question our life choices and contemplate a life post Rebel Rebel.’
