Robot Rock

02/10/16: Regulars of the Kingsland Road will know that stepping through the door of the rather daunting and austere face presented to the world by The Shelter means entering an unexpectedly welcoming little venue with friendly staff and a jewel box of a mirrored basement.

This was the perfect Sunday afternoon setting for the soft launch of a regular Saturday night (the Rockober Residency) at the bijou venue. Having decided to put some roots in Haggerston, at least for now, and starting as it is meaning to go on, Robot Rock had secured the services of DJ Colin Peters on his way to Space Ibiza’s Closing Fiesta.

Panos Zerdevas, Lazer Minnelli and Robot Palmer had also been drafted for our listening and dancing pleasure. The varied musical fare (from dance mixes to indie rock) was most infectious and we were soon bopping along.

How handy it’s going to be to leave the Glory a few doors down after closing time and take a few uncertain mincy steps to carry on with the night’s jollities. Expect surprises!
