31/12/11: The RVT have been holding NYE events now for over a decade and every year appears better, bigger and busier than the previous year!
This year saw the first ever S.L.A.G.S/Chill-Out Pink Ball, with lots of regulars dressed in pink plus an amazing show from The D.E. Experience, but with a wonderful twist this year, as he was joined on stage (as a surprise for the crowd) by a well-rehearsed all-male choir – The S.L.A.G.S. Singers.
DJ Andy Almighty then played a rocking set of RVT classics over New Year ‘til 2am and fellow resident Sean Sirrs played hits of the year till close at 5am.
“S.L.A.G.S is blessed with the best audiences ever, so we wanted to give them the best party ever to see in 2012,” D.E. told us backstage as we sipped a bottle of vodka. “It was once again my privilege and a thrill to be part of the RVT community. What a night!”
Regular DJ Simon Le Vans was equally ecstatic, “Once again New Year’s Eve at the ‘Tavern was like a giant house party, such a joy to see in the new year with great mates and a brilliant crowd!”
Andy Almighty, too, was full of praise: “A small venue we may be but nobody puts on a NYE party like we do. Packed to the rafters it feels like a mega-club once the crowd is in full swing and D.E’s show is always very special. ‘Tis always my favourite gig of the year – the atmosphere incredible.”
“Even after all the years of NYE parties at the RVT, I can honestly say I wouldn’t want to wave goodbye to the old year and say hello to the new one anywhere else,” Sean Sirrs slurrs into our ear as we prop the bar up. “Every year is just brilliant – the RVT team and the crowd are just phenomenal.”
