23/07/11: There’s always someone calling me an old slag or telling me to chill out – usually when I’m having a queeny/dramatic moment at the thought of my beer glass being empty. So, I decided to heed the advice of all those judgemental, jealous bitches and attend the S.L.A.G.S/Chill-Out 13th birthday extravaganza. I can’t believe that I’ve been toiling away at QX Towers for over three years and I’ve never been to this ever-popular Sunday shindig! Pleased that even a withered hack like me is still a virgin in some sense, I excitedly shuffled down to Vauxhall on our first sunny day since what seems like 1989, and was met with a heaving RVT. A late twenties upwards crowd were squeezed in and whooping it up to the frankly hilarious D.E. Experience. If you haven’t seen this bitch work a stage then you’re missing out, gurls! After some sassy humour, D.E.’s alter ego Jonathan sashayed out to give us some musical delights – I’m happy anywhere that I hear a version of Alanis Morisette’s ‘Ironic’. Especially in a homosexual establishment! Plus, I had no idea that half the people I knew would be here too. Old friends, new fitties, laughs aplenty and drunken dancing? I’ll be seeing you S.L.A.G.S next weekend!
PS: We had a little gossip with D.E. Experience afterwards who told us: “I wasn’t prepared for just how astonishingly enthusiastic the crowd were. They’re always amazing but they just totally let go yesterday. I want to thank the audience for being such fun and I’d love to thank everyone involved in running the RVT, Chris Marshall and Simon Le Vans deserve a special thank you. What a great day!” Similarly, promoter Andy Almighty commented: “It was packed and buzzing all day – one of the best Sundays in our 13 year history! I’d like to thank everyone involved and our loyal and supportive customers.”
