19/07/14: East Bloc’s SEPM was a night of firsts as Larry Tee proudly debuted three of the freshest new DJs on the scene: Viktoria Modesta aka ‘Bionic’, Richard Jones and Matt Carter.
Attack Attack Attack and guest DJ Tom Stephan had the main room swirling in ecstatic whirls oozing high-energy love and deep bass lust. In the back room club, singer, producer and DJ virgin, Viktoria Modesta was a natural for her first-time behind the decks pushin buttons and bums with her own brand of ‘RnB twerk’.
Later Ray Noir laid it out dark n funky and gave us something sweet to suck on with the premiere of his hot new single “Double Trouble” ahead of his headline gig at Out on The Docks mega-show 26 July.
The lion’s share had to go to East Bloc family friend Nan Atichatpong’s discovery, newbies DJs and ‘music soulmates’ Richard Jones and Matt Carter whose ‘deep electronika’ mixed house music’s every floor and kept the back ‘shed’ club packed and pumping til closing time like never before.
“I love giving new artists a chance to showcase their talent,” beamed Mr. Tee. “It’s why we’re here!”
Keep ‘em coming, Larry. SEPM gets better and better!
