SHHHHH…. ITS PUSHCA!

Legendary hedonistic party, Pushca rears its beautiful head for the first time in 2013 on Saturday 2nd February, with a free spirited, larger-than-life and enigmatic event at Electric Brixton. Ahead of Pushca Undercover, we spoke to some of its stars to tell us more about the sexy and secretive latest party…

What is it that you love about Pushca?

Pushca is one of a few brands I work for that has always been close to my heart. A party that has innovated how we know events today and breeding the likes of Boy George into the DJ world! It’s one of the most glamorous events that attracts some of the most creative people in clubbing, and it’s always been a policy that to enter the world of Pushca means you need to adhere to the dress code. Where boys who like boys mingle with girls who like girls who love Pushca! The party always thinks out of the box and keeps the event fresh and ahead of its time. I guess that’s why it’s been around for over 20 years, putting on parties in castles, lighthouses and mansions to Queen Elizabeth’s wine cellar. You need to experience the party to really embrace its legacy.

Any tips on what we should wear?

Due to the fact it’s a new era, we have a new home and the dress code is loose, so not compulsory but encouraged! It’s an opportunity for me and everyone else who attends to explore the art of make up and dress, whether that be diamonds on your chest or hand cuffed to a partner, it’s all about expression. This is an underwear/spy theme so improvise! Think DSquared models vs Joan Collins vs James Bond. The key to Pushca is not one person talks about their outfits, what happens at Pushca stays at Pushca!

ABIGAIL BAILEY

So much of Pushca is about the fashion, and as the Pushca diva of the night, we’re curious as to who’ll be dressing you and what you’ll be wearing…

Well, we have an amazing lady called Bridget making all the costumes as we speak. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to add a lot of my input to my costume, but I can’t tell you any more than that!  What I can say is that it’s going to be very sexy glam and totally Pushca style!

What are you planning to perform on the night?

I’ll be performing my brand new single called ‘OCD’ with Tom Novy. I’ll also be performing one very amazing cover and another new track with resident DJ Tony English called ‘Your Life”. We’ve been in the studio making the tracks Pushca-ready and they’re sounding great! They’re really going to ignite the Puscha label.

What new releases have you got coming up?

I have a number of collaborations in progress. First up is something with newcomers FunkDNA and Olic, which will be the first Big Love release this year called ‘Auroro Lights’. This should be out on Beatport in February. Next up are a couple of collaborations with my old mate ATFC, then there’s another newcomer called Nelski, who’s had releases on Chris Lake’s Rising Music and more recently prestigious label Great Stuff in Germany. I’m also putting together a compilation of Big Bang Theory material, which goes back to the mid 90s with my first release. It will also feature some remixes for other artists and some other early recordings, with new re-edits and unreleased material. One track was actually recorded 20 years ago, showing time really does fly when you’re having fun!

Will we hear any new material at Pushca?

I’ll be testing out the ‘Auroro Lights’ track and maybe some of the tracks with ATFC and Nelski. There’ll also be a remix I’ve just done for a hot new indie act, Foxes, who are signed to Sony in America, who I’m loving! People who liked my remix for Nikki and The Dove ‘DJ Ease My Mind’ will be feeling this one too.

Seamus Haji’s Top 3 PUSCHA Tracks

1. ‘Beneath You’re Beautiful’ (Seamus Haji Remix) – Labrinth feat Emile Sandie (Syco)

Because everyone is beautiful and Puscha is all about beauty and glamour… darling!

2. ‘Jumpin’ (Iban Reus Remix) – Todd Terry  (Toolroom)

Great re-work of a house classic, which takes me back to the mid 90s when I first played for Pushca. Full of fun & energy!

3. ‘Zumba Rocks’ – Abel The Kid (Synergy)

Uses the 80s classic George Kranz ‘Din Da Da’, which has to be THE vogueing tune of choice. Perfect for the dancers at Pushca.
