13/12/14: It was always going to be tough to top their Summer Ball, so as we approached a queue of glitter beards, eccentric make-up and colourful costumes, anticipation was building! Way more so than it would have been sitting at home watching X Factor like some basic sofa bitch.
Surrounded by cracked out Christmas trees, a number of randy (and rather ratchet) reindeers, a couple of sloshed snowmen and a giraffe, The Troxy was like Narnia on acid. One thing’s for sure, there weren’t no virgins at this Nativity scene.
Then lo and behold, there was Sophie Ellis Bextor ‘pon di stage in a turquoise mini-dress. Wait, or was it a top? Girl ‘bout to catch her death when she’s waiting for the night bus.
Forget Murder On The Dancefloor, she wants to be worried ‘bout pneumonia on the pavement. But as the crowd shacked out, wet weaves stuck to their tashes, things soon warmed up! Another crazy, sequin-bursting, disco-loving rave from the STP; exactly what this season is about!
