SOS: CARRIE’S HALLOWEEN PROM

02/11/12: Things got supernatural for a Friday night scream of a ‘Carrie’s Prom’ Halloween party as edgy homo-rave, SOS, went totally telekinetic last weekend.

Transforming Islington’s Metal Works into a hair-raising high school dancehall, a creepy coterie of pallid ‘prom queers’ made it a macabre mash-up to remember at one of the most atmospheric venues in town.

A trio of chilling chambers featured the likes of Warboy, Joe Robots, Mark-Ashley Dupé and Jacqui Potato putting their horror-hands to good use, cranking out a nightmarish soundtrack of ‘acid-tongue house’, ‘transthemic pop’, ‘neurotic transe’ and more for a crowd of terrifyingly turned-out club kidz.

Meanwhile, blood-soaked hosts, Scottee and Oozing Gloop, upped the glam factor, channelling timeless serial-killer sophistication at the door as QX Club News wondered what kind of hideously depraved scene we’d haplessly chanced upon.

But with a cultish DJ incantation luring us back onto the demented dancefloor, it was several hours before we took our leave – wide-eyed and babbling of ‘diabolical drag queens’ and ‘booming beats’ as we staggered off into the ghostly dawn.  SOS is back at regular home, East Bloc, on 17th November with transcendent tracks from super-special guest, Severino!
