28/05/11: Not since Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman sang on top of an elephant’s head has so much been expected of a production entitled ‘Moulin Rouge’, but when SuperMartXé presented their homage to the 19th century Parisian den of iniquity and debauchery last Saturday night, we were truly gob-smacked. The red curtain was drawn back to reveal an illuminated life size windmill on the stage as well as high level walkways, podia and giant illuminated hearts all populated with scorchingly gorgeous dancers in the sluttiest, tightest sequinned and glittered outfits. Moulin vocals came from the lovely Belle, aerial antics and death defying pole-top acrobatics from the über hot Saulo, with aural treats from AB Garcia, Tony English and Jamie Hammond in the main room as Jodie Harsh’s Room Service all-stars took over in room 2. Superb music, a dance floor packed with hotties and out of this world production and pyrotechnics… spectacular, spectacular indeed.
