20/12/12: For 22 years, Ted’s Place on the North End Road has battled against the tide of a shrinking West London scene and is now the sole survivor of what was once a gay Mecca – but what a survivor!
With cruise and underwear nights throughout the week, they are probably best know for Thursday’s TV/TS night that attracts every conceivable type of tranny from the ‘nylon wig in a shoe box under the bed’ to the ‘walk in couture wardrobe with real hair weave’, although admittedly there are more of the former than the latter.
Small and perfectly formed, at this time of year Ted’s naughty sparkle really shines and last week their Trannie Christmas Party was packed to the rafters with an eclectic bunch of cocks in frocks, tranny glamazons and regular blokes who just don’t ‘do’ the Soho scene, and as always it was a friendly and a laid-back laugh.
A huge table groaned under the weight of a tasty buffet – no sad pack of peanuts and out of date sausage rolls here – as the resident DJ played a melange of 80s, 90s and retro pop to dance to.
There was the added benefit of a hot Arab guy and one or two straight TV/TS chasers that (almost) inspired us to chuck on a wig, too! Maybe next time!
