06/08/11: TheMenWhoFellToEarth landed at East Bloc on the first Saturday of every month and last weekend was their post-Field Day party.
For the occasion they managed to bag a super special DJ set by the divine CockAndBullKid straight after her performance at the festival. The music’s a heady mix of punk-funk, dirty disco and remixed rock’n’roll, enough to get even the stuffiest old queen out and onto the dance floor.
It’s hands-in-the-air abandonment without ever slipping into the cheesy. East Bloc is a great club to shimmy or schmooze in with its dance floor that’s small enough to feel intimate yet big enough to get lost in.
If you get tired of dancing there are plenty of caverns to go sit, chill or adventure in at the back. Pulling a nicely diverse crowd with all ages and persuasions happily co-existing, this is definitely one to watch.
Next month sees guest DJs The C90’s in the main room and the Cockabilly Boys taking over Room 2.
