01/11/13: Fridays at Eagle London is Tonker, an institution that attracts the more manly men on the scene, from jocks and leather boys to skinheads, bears and cubs, it is the perfect testosterone fuelled spit and sawdust crowd that you expect to inhabit a bar with the aroma of Tom of Finland oozing from the walls.
Last week they opened early, just after the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens fireworks display and bonfire night, with the perfect sponsor, Jim Beam, ‘the world’s no.1 Bourbon’.
There was a furry little hottie on hand dishing out the shots of ‘Honey’, ‘JB White’ and ‘Red Stag’ to warm the cockles and the bar boys were mixing it up with lime, ginger ale and even apple juice for those liking it a bit longer.
Butch tunes came from DJs Tim Jones and Ross Jones, there was free pizza on the bar and even Jonathan of Fetish Freak, the in-house boutique, was doing a roaring trade in small leather goods and accessories. It was ruff, woof and grrr all the way to the wee hours – another perfect Friday.
