29/04/11: The Vauxhall aristocracy were out in force as Tonker hosted their very own ‘Royal Wedding Rumble’ in honour of the planet’s most famous newlyweds last Friday. With the capital still buzzing from the biggest national celebration since Diana graced the steps of St Paul’s in 25 feet of homo-friendly taffeta, a night of post-nuptial partying kicked off with a flag-flying shindig at Eagle, a mere open-topped carriage canter away from Clarence House and complete with its own cardboard cut-out of the happy couple. All talk was of ‘the dress’ and ‘the kiss’ and poor Princess Bea’s questionable taste in headgear as Tonker Tim took to the decks for a dizzying dancefloor tribute that had us hot-stepping beneath the bunting like crazed Camillas at a debutantes’ ball. Meanwhile, a garrulous Dame Edna Beverage raised a toast as the proceedings spilled outside for a ‘Royal Garden Party’, complete with complimentary St James’s-style barbecue and barely room to flutter a souvenir Union Jack. Back inside, special guest Wanye G led a red carpet romp of ‘heir-to-the-throne’ party bangers through ‘til late as QX feared we’d have a dose of upper crust-style ‘cocktail flu’ the next morning and didn’t care a bit!
