WE LOVE DISCO

WE Party London is back with its 1st anniversary celebrations, and to mark the occasion they’re strapping on their platforms for a bit of Saturday Night Fever with ‘WE Disco’. We asked our favourite disco diva Jonny M, part of the WE London promotions team, to tell us more…

A year has flown by… what’s been the highlight?

There have been loads! The launch was pretty major – no one knew what to expect and once the stage was unveiled the atmosphere was wild. WE Candy was also one of the best, and Shawnee Taylor’s pride night PA was totally epic. She took the roof off the Coronet!

How do your feel the London version of WE has developed in the last year?

The production team in London work really closely with the WE team in Madrid, so each time a new concept comes out in Madrid we are always next in line. That means it’s always fresh, current, and cutting edge. The creative direction is top notch and we are constantly adding new layers.

What have you got lined up for Saturday night?

Another incredible production, including the biggest LED screen ever used that we’re shipping in especially. Plus, mind blowing music from the WE residents, special effects, amazing gogo shows and costumes, and exclusive live performances. This is not to be missed!

What’s in store for the future and 2012?

Our next WE Party is on NYD and tickets are already flying out! Grab yours at wepartylondon.com now. Then for 2012 we’ve got some amazing Bank Holiday WE Parties and Saturday night events lined up – just watch this space!

Oh, you big ol’ minge tease, you! And we hear there’s something big from the WE team over in Madrid on NYE?

Yes, WE Party Madrid is presenting a special New Year’s festival with some  of the biggest brands in the world taking part. Beyond will be hosting the official after party, which we’re thrilled about. Plus, Matinee and many more great brands are also involved.

DO THE HUSTLE…
We asked this month’s WE DJs to tell us their all-time favourite disco track…

Kris Di Angelis
Ashford & Simpson – ‘Bourgie Bourgie
In every way an epically beautiful track. Was also sampled for one of the best house records I know, ‘Guitarra G’, which is always a sure fire way to get [QX Editor] Cliff rolling his tits around in a disco.

Jodie Harsh
Donna Summer – ‘I Feel Love’
As you know, I’m a traditional girl at heart, so I’d pick a Donna Summer track. Probably ‘I Feel Love’ – that bassline is so sexual. It always gets me in the mood for Room Service – I really turn into a filthy ho’ when I hear this [blushes].

Paul Heron
Thelma Houston – ‘I’m Here Again
It was sampled for PowerHouse ‘What You Need’. It’s got everything, an amazing vocal, emotion, great strings and a killer hook!

D’Johnny
Cerrone – ‘Supernature
It’s got everything and still sounds great today!

Fat Tony
Sheila B Devotion – ‘Spacers
It sums it all up for me, it’s what disco is all about… and my God I’ve met some!

• WE Party London ‘Disco’ – The 1st anniversary is at The Coronet (26-28 New Kent Road, Elephant & Castle, SE1) on Saturday 3rd December, 11pm-7am.
