05/10/13: The gruff and the rugged were out in force for yet another turbo-boosted party as XXL, who raised the roof on Pulse with a pumpin’ ‘Octobearfest’ bash, last weekend.
London may not be able to match the range of booze and bratwurst on offer at the Munich beer festival but, featuring an entire block-rockin’ spectrum of beefed-up shenanigans with a thirst-slaking Germanic twist, we can do storming gay club nights better than anywhere else on the planet.
Monumental antics in the main room saw deck daddy, Christian M, tearing up a soundtrack of slamming commercial dance tracks that had the hairy hunks throwing their hands up ‘til closing time. Next door, top disco dude, Joe Egg, set the dancefloor ablaze with a barrage of retro choons from the past to the present.
Elsewhere, the reconfigured darkroom saw QX Club News fumbling around in the shadows amidst a bevy of obliging blokes, whilst the mega-sized lounge terrace attracted as much through-traffic as ever. Back inside there was still plenty more to come on the DJ front from the likes of Alex Logan and Mark Ames, as the thrill-seekers ran amok right through ‘til 7am.
