14/05/11: Britain’s Blue boys may have finished a long way behind Jedward and cultural superpower Azerbaijan in Düsseldorf last weekend, but that didn’t put the dampeners on the party spirit as QX headed down to XXL’s Eurovision bash on Saturday night.
Featuring a flag-waving line-up of Euro-themed antics, highlights included Euro-star DJ Joe Egg treating the XXL crowd to a camp-as-Lulu Eurovision retrospective in the back bar that had us stomping to Abba, Bucks Fizz and Brotherhood of Man as if the house music revolution never happened. Meanwhile, there was plenty to get excited about on the rammed main floor, with XXL’s remixed, commercially-inclined, music policy enticing those hairy homos to shirk off their butch tendencies for eight-feet of Kylie beamed on to the brand new cinematic-style video screen. Elsewhere, the happy vibe continued in the ‘Queen Vic meets Big Daddy’ main bar and outside terraces, not to mention a revamped dark room and horny porn cinema as the Eurovision thrills lasted through to the morning!
