08/10/16: Pulse was as packed as we’ve ever seen it for this Saturday’s edition of XXL, that masterful pillar of the London gay scene.
Was it due to the Jubilee Line giving itself over to the night tube for the first time? Was it the lasting afterglow of the recent infamous 16th anniversary shenanigans? Was it the appeal of the better lay out (a swap between the leather chill-out and the now-not-so-smaller dance floor) and the supercharged sound system that sets your body hair dancing at least as hard as you? Was it Paul Morrell, as new master of the main vault, and Joe Egg, in his extended cavernous domain? Both were on top form, bewitching masses of hunky men to gyrated and grind to their emphatic tunes. Perhaps it was a combination of all of the above. Perhaps it was simply that XXL is one of the best club nights that London has to offer. Period! We are not sure what the secret ingredient to the XXL recipe is but that particular milkshake certainly brings all the men to the yard and that’s all we want to know.
