Parties & PeopleXXL: Eurovision

XXL: Eurovision

10/05/14: The night couldn’t have got any happier and humpier than XXL’s Saturday night Eurovision Party. The club was fully electrified with the joy of Austria’s Mister-sister Conchita Wurst, the bearded ‘lady’, winning Eurovision. What else could possibly put a smile on the face of a bearded burly biker daddy than seeing one of his own kickin arse and takin home the trophy!

Like Vikings celebrating a blood-soaked victory at Valhalla, the biggest and brawniest pounded their fists on the tables as ‘Hildegard’ slew the competition with her power-ballad in where else, but the land of the Danes. The perfect song for the perfect warrior in the perfect setting. All meant to whip up the XXL soldiers into a fury that, thankfully, they let loose on the dance floors steered by those Captains of the longboats, Christian M., Alex Logan, Joe Egg, Andy Almighty and Stewart Styles.

A packed hothouse of sweaty muscle and bearded hipsters filled up the cavernous Pulse with its multiple dance rooms, four bars and glowing chill-out room. It seemed as if every hot daddy and his humpy sidekick were there and ready to party. From the familiar swingin dance hits of the Retro room to the hard labour grunt bass of the main dance floor, not a spot was left open save for a li’l bum to bum room neath the disco balls.

Lorenzo, fresh from Florence gushed, “This place, he is so wonderful! The space, the music, the men, the contest! We have nothing like it back home!” Sharing the pride of Queen Conchita’s Eurovison win, we toured the back country to thank the voters only to be ravaged by the locals, who ripped open our gown, tore off our sash and tied us down with it. We left crown marks on a lot of bellies and made our way out.

We arrived a contender and left a champion, one and all.
