04/08/12: As Great Britain’s Olympian heroes overhauled the rest of the world, taking an amazing six gold medals in one day, XXL got in on the action with London’s beefiest beefcake flocking to mega-venue Pulse for a monumental ‘Olympic Bear’ bash last weekend.
Featuring a Super-Saturday line-up of champion DJ sounds across four action-packed party arenas, a stadium-sized crowd gave it up for the capital’s biggest weekly bears bash in globe-straddling form, with a packed main room going wild for soaring DJ sounds from Christian M that had the dancefloor erupting in near-epochal fervour.
Next door found jukebox king Joe Egg recalling the original era of American track giants and bad Soviet perms, with a sprint-relay of pop hits from the 70s to the present day getting us hurdling around the room like hysterical hundred metre runners.
Meanwhile, there was even more action elsewhere as the antics adjourned to the field, aka the XXL garden terrace and cruise maze, with a veritable heptathlon of hunkish happenings pitting burly bloke against bloke, including what looked like a nail biting ‘pole vault’ competition, in the dark amidst the camo-netting, with the winner sneaking up from behind and surging to victory at the last minute for a thrilling climax!
