XXL presents DJ Cahill

28/03/2015: XXL consistently commands a crowd; the cavernous, epic venue can most certainly accommodate one – the atmospherically lit, high, stone-ceilinged network of spaces seeming more like arenas than mere rooms.

So that was to be expected last Saturday night, and as per – the club was positively thrumming with people. DJ Cahill on the other hand is the kind of scene name that increases footfall – and so last Saturday ensured men were chest-to-chest, toe-to-toe and mouth-to-mouth all night. Not that anyone complained, with house basslines being meticulously dropped  on the main floor – and a mix of the latest and most legendary R’n’B, pop and mainstream numbers in Room 2, everybody was catered to. Some perhaps with a little more TLC – of a kind – than others, the club’s red-lit darkroom sating any carnal effects that Cahill’s pounding, throbbing, pyrotechnic-exploding set fired up on the floor. From 11 to 7, this southeast corner of London feels collectively like the gay clubber’s most thrilling, thriving vice.
