17/03/12: Bigger, better, furrier and funkier, XXL headed into a brand new era with a road block of a St Patrick’s day bash at new home Pulse last weekend.
Taking in everything we’ve always loved about XXL at Arcadia, but on a supersized scale, promoter Mark Ames and his crew look set to build on their runaway popularity if the Saturday night mass of grizzly guys whooping it up under the cavernous Pulse arches were anything to go by.
Larger than life antics included a storming set of pumping commercial smashes from Alex Logan in the main room, whilst retro king Joe Egg can now lay claim to his very own dancefloor, complete with room enough to throw in a clutch of leather sofas, giving us a grandstand view of the passing beefcake.
Elsewhere, and there was plenty to explore amidst the sumptuous indoor terrace and outdoor smoking deck as London’s burliest blokes made the most of the extra breathing space – not that there was much of that available back on the main dance drag, as the capital’s biggest weekly bears bash packed in the punters for a St Patrick’s Day party to remember.
