Betty’s Back

Songs of Praise DJs and promoters Neil Prince and David Oh shared a chinwag with none other than 90’s hip-pop legend Betty Boo ahead of her DJ set with them this weekend…

Where have you been, gurl? We used to have so much fun?

I took some time out to make films with my husband, notably Something From Nothing – The Art Of Rap featuring Eminem, Kanye, Dr Dre and various artists. So, I’ve spent a lot of time in LA. We have two other films coming out next year. It’s great to get involved in fresh new projects and going to all the Film Festivals like Sundance and Cannes.

I headlined at my first music festival in year’s last week and it was a blast. As soon as I put on my 60’s mirrored dress, I was back in Boo Mode. I’ve missed writing pop, I need pop in my life, so I’m going back into my studio. I’ve got some great tracks that are screaming out for a sprinkling of Boo glitter-dust… Watch this space.

It’s the year 3000 and Betty Boo and the Boo-ettes have been teleported in their time machine to a time unknown. How would you describe yourselves and what you do?

The Boo-ettes and I are still rocking the Boo bob, silver hot pants and Boo boots. We love going dancing every Saturday night and rather like that Pharrell Williams song ‘Happy’!

You’re booked to play an exclusive DJ set at Songs of Praise this Saturday. Which pop stars are Doin’ the Do for you right now?

I’m really looking forward to getting down to Songs Of Praise. I think Katy Perry is great, but Madonna is always Doin’ The Do… she’s The Queen.

We loved the Wigwam project. Any chance of another collaboration?

Thank you. Wigwam was fun to do. I think I’ll keep it simple for a while… having two egos in a band was hard work! I wouldn’t rule it out though.

Who would you most like to be stuck in a wigwam with? Paris Hilton, Cheryl Cole or Su Pollard?

Now that’s a tricky one! It would have to be Su Pollard as she’s an experienced happy camper… Hi-Di-Hi!

Can we be your new Boo-ettes?

Wowza! Yes, please! If you know the words to ‘Doin’ The Do’ and ‘Where Are You Baby’ then you’ve passed the test! Get your Boo on…
