Giving it dirty, chunky and funky. Pier Morrocco is at 7-8pm, with plifting house with a Carnival feel, while Brent Nicholls spins from funky, chunky and disco-dipped house, from 8-11pm. Resident DJ Mark Norton closes the party, from 11pm-1am.

The festivities continue until 6am with tuneage from DJ’s Demon, Paul Short and Grant Wilkins in the cabaret bar and club.

AND A WORD FROM THE GUV’NORS…

Jimmy Smith, Two Brewers

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

The cabaret! Seeing them enjoying themselves, and so many in one place at one time is a rarity.
A truly underrated, hardworking and special group of people.

Why do you love the event?

It’s local and, according to a number of awards, it’s the best outdoor festival of the year.

What are your favourite moment from previous events?

Sherrie Houston and Carol McGiffin stage diving [joke]… Rose Garden and the portable toilet was priceless too…

Craig Maritza, Kazbar

“After all the hard work and stress in the morning, getting everything setup in time for opening, I love taking five and sitting on the first floor window ledge and seeing a sea of people below enjoying themselves. I especially love the way our neighbours join in the fun – even little old ladies sit on their front wall with their whistles out!

What is incredible is that the event has steadily increased in popularity over the last eight years. I remember the first stage was a couple of orange boxes outside Kazbar, and now it covers the whole of Edgeley Road, and the bus lane has to be cordoned off to cope with the queues! So all I can advise is get here early folks.

• The Clapham Street Party kicks off from 1pm on Edgeley Road in Clapham on Saturday 30th June. Get there early to avoid disappointment.
