Gilét’s Plays

You know when you hear that two artists you love are collaborating and can’t wait to hear the outcome?

And then you know when you hear the outcome and you wish the two bitches hadn’t even bothered? Well! Fortunately Ariana Grande’s latest single ‘Problem’ featuring Iggy Azalea is nothing like that! Grande’s creamy vocals perfectly compliment Iggy’s raspy rapping on this predicted summer hit. Iggy’s already one of my faves at the moment, and Ariana’s really coming in to her own – good for her! *Oprah hug*

After a couple of flop singles (that inevitably follows Cole’s lead album track), Cheryl Cole releases ‘Crazy Stupid Love’. I love a commercial pop track as much as the next gay man, and was on board this one until those saxophones came and shat all over it. The poor lass is stuck between two styles of music; modern pop and 60s swing and that is not an aural lovechild my ears appreciate. She could have made this really edgy with an underground dirty beat – now that would have been a single! I also think Tinie Tempah’s rap is kinda lazy… Awks.

La Roux are back! Yeah boy! When a group you love just disappears into thin air – and you feel like your child just ran away from home – now they’ve returned. The new single ‘Uptight Downtown’ sounds enough like La Roux to know it’s them, but is different enough from their previous work. I’ve had a few listens and it’s definitely more of a grower than Tom Cruise. Guaranteed tube track by next week! Can’t wait for the album…

And La Roux aren’t the only ones making a comeback, Danity Kane return, and they’ve brought ‘Lemonade’. Whoever thought these gyals were dead, should have known they’d do just as well dropping a couple bitches. ‘Lemonade’ is a lot more urban than some of their previous singles, and it’s a good look on them. The lyrics of the track ensure it to be a hit with wannabe East London kids that wanna serve shade but still work in retail.

And don’t even get me started on Nicole Scherzinger’s ‘Your Love’. That musta been some loving he gave her, ‘cause he gone and banged the lyrics right outta her head? Those trumpet noises though? She should just team up with Cheryl and throw their careers off a bridge.
