GMFA & RVT SPORTS DAY

Continuing the current obsession with all things sporty, bank holiday Monday saw huge crowds turn out to Spring Gardens in Vauxhall-on-Thames (or VaHa, or even VoHo, depending on which queen you ask) for the annual RVT Sports Day in aid of GMFA and Vauxhall City Farm.

After a spectacular opening ceremony featuring the forging of Olympic rings and dancing doctors and nurses from GLADD (Gay Association of Doctors and Dentists), some 16 teams competed in events like the drag race, tug-o-war, sack race, 50m mince and the handbag toss, culminating in a team rhythmic gymnastic display.

As well as medals for sporting prowess where OTS Water Sports took gold, Jedi Scum silver and the Bixe Habibies bronze, awards were also given to the Mavis Cruet Experience for best outfits and to the Rainbow Warriorettes for best online fundraising effort.

A magnificent £6,100 was raised in sponsorship online before the event, and on the day the charity buckets were heavy with cash too. A truly brilliant day for a great cause! Thank you to everyone who took part.
