Oh, What a Gay Day!

The Gay Sports Day has become something of a summer institution over the period of eight years, since it first began. Once a year, at the very end of summer, queer London and their friends come together in Vauxhall Spring Gardens, round the back of the RVT (ooo-eeer missus ) for one of the hottest tickets in the annual cabaret calendar, and what makes it even more special? It’s all for CHARIDEE!

Admission on the day is free, however teams are encouraged to raise as much lovely dosh as possible for GMFA (the UK’s leading gay gay men’s health charity) who do a stupendously great job all year round, funds are also raised for the local Vauxhall City Farm.

As has become tradition, Timberlina, queen of the fabulous and surreal, is host for the day. Armed with a loudhailer and a VERY loud voice, she will be geeing on the teams as they compete in the drag relay, handbag throw, 50m mince, and many more dragtastic events.

There’ll also be an outside bar and DJs to accompany the ‘sporting’ action throughout the afternoon and more surprises in store! So whether you’re entering with a team or just coming along to watch, the day promises to be great fun, and a fabulous way to finish off your bank holiday weekend.

Trophies are handed out for the team which scores the most points at the end of the day, the team which raises the most amount of money, and the team with the best costume. So DRESS TO IMPRESS. More is more is what we always say at QX Towers. To enter, all you need do is form a team of five members. Register your team with GMFA by emailing: [email protected].
