TheMenWhoGotElectric

TheMenWhoFell2Earth are back with their first party of 2015, and they’re inviting Manchester boys HomoElectric to man the main floor decks with them.

TheMenWhoFell2Earth meet HomoElectric

TheMenWhoFell2Earth: Where do we find HomoElectric in 2015?

HomoElectric: Running around the backstreets, no knickers on, open to offers.

Some clubs come and go, but that can also be part of their story – they’re just a moment in time. How has HomoElectric stayed the course, and kept its appeal?

By keeping the bullshit to a minimum, keeping it attitude free and giving people a good time.

What’s on heavy rotation on the turntables at HomoElectric towers?

We’re loving The Black Madonna at the moment, great productions and her sets are devious, euphoric and eclectic.

Who do you always keep an ear out for?

Anything on Erol Alkan’s Phantasy label. And anything Todd Terje is involved with is always a winner.

Tell anyone who doesn’t already know about the sound of HomoElectric.

For the uninitiated, HomoElectric is a free-thinking no frills backstreet disco, for queers and nice homosapians. We love underground dance music, usually of black origin – namely soul, disco, house, garage, maybe a little techno. There are no rules at our parties, just don’t be an idiot.

Where do you see our dance floors heading in 2015? Are the deep house hooligans going to move onto something else?

If I hear another pitched down deep house vocal I will kill myself. It’s been done to death! The trend I predict for 2015 is ‘no trend’. Abandon all genres and be open to various musical styles.

What is 2015 going to be the year of?

The selfie stick unfortunately, the narcissists are winning. We’re doomed.

As we’re doubling up with TheMenWhoFell2Earth on Saturday 24th, tell us your favourite double act.

Ashford & Simpson. Responsible for too many hit songs to mention, killer vocal harmonies and an unhealthy love of jackets with fringing.

What should you never go to a nightclub with?

A selfie stick.

What should you never go to a nightclub without?

Good manners, shoes you don’t mind trashing, and a sense of humour.

HomoElectric meet TheMenWhoFell2Earth

HomoElectric: So, it’s the first party of the new year for you guys. Which resolutions will you be breaking?

TheMenWhoFell2Earth: No discos. No poppers. Massive fail.

Imagine Homoelectric and TheMenWhoFell2Earth were people on a first date, what would that date involve?

It would probably be like the night we took Jamie Bull to the last ever Popstarz – Nando’s, the best of intentions, some record playing, much dancing and a brutalising hangover (but no touching).

How are HomoElectric and TheMenWhoFell2Earth similar? What makes them kindred spirits?

I think we’re both nicely left of centre and tend to trust our own instincts.

How many times have you actually watched the film ‘The Man Who Fell To Earth’?

That’s like asking you how many homosexuals you’ve electrocuted!

Homo Electric Top 3

1:Paradise’Payfone
Cos you’ve always gotta have a new favourite and this little squechly disco number is it.

2:Kilometer(Aeroplane Italo 84 remix) Sebastian Tellier
Probably the most danced to record in the club’s history.

3:Reasons To Be Cheerful’- Ian Dury and the Blockheads
Classic!

• TheMenWhoFell2Earth and guests HomoElectric are at East Bloc (217 City Road, EC1V 1JN) on Saturday 24th January, 10.30pm-06am.
