It’s that time of the year again, when our fave scare bears XXL do Halloween the way only they can. Hordes of husky hairy men descending on the cavernous Pulse Nightclub in various states of hilarious undress and updress.
There are some costumes that just lend themselves to XXL. Like…Goldilocks and the three bears, obviously. You could get Lady Lloyd to come, holding a bowl of porridge and wearing a blue and white-checkered Vivienne Westwood apron, and then go with three hot bears. BOOM. Goldilocks and the three bears!
Or…Winnie The Pooh! Draft in a twink to be Christopher Robin. Robbie Thomas would be a good Christopher Robin actually. How you doin’ Robbie.
But once you GET to XXL, that’s when the fun begins. XXL’s haunted y’know. Oh yes. That smoke isn’t from steam cannons, it’s actually GHOSTS. The ghost of David Robson’s fashion sense. Just kidding Dave. Lol. Spectres of Joel Ryder’s deleted photographs, floating in the ether. The once that didn’t make it past the QX cutting room.
XXL is always unbeatable at Halloween, but this year that will be the case more so than ever, because they’ve got The Hoxton Whores performing! Misleadingly, The Hoxton Whores are not from Hoxton, and they’re not whores.
They’re just two blokes who play really, REALLY good music. Proper grown-up critically viable house and techno. But we expect they’ll throw in Michael Jackson’s Thriller at some point too.
And this is a special Rocky Horror Picture show-themed night. That means lots of BEARS IN FISHNETS. Bears in fishnets might be our favourite thing in the world.
