Gay Bar London: CircaGay Bar London: Circa

Nestled down a salubrious side street in glittering Soho, Circa is a relatively new addition to London’s ever in flux gay scene. Just as the neighbourhood’s infectious party vibe seemed to be flagging, in sauntered Circa to the tune of Work Bitch by Britney, perching herself on the metaphorical kitchen counter of the city, and taking a knowing swig of her vodka martini.

Like many drinking establishments in the area, Circa bridges the gap between bar and nightclub. And that’s a good thing! During the day and in early evening, the ambience is as chilled as the drinks – young gay actors and artists sink into plush sofas with pints and pinots, while the music burbles away and eye-catching, olive-skinned bar staff flit back and forth.

Then, as the clock strikes 9, the place picks up and bursts into all-guns-blazing nightlife hedonism. Munroe Bergdorf storms in with six inches of heel, 23 inches of hair and 28 inches of leg, and takes up residence behind the fabulously over-the-top disco ball DJ booth with a gin and tonic and a smirk.

Circa’s found a winning formula on the gay scene – it’s friendly, it’s cool, it’s ALWAYS buzzing. And you can’t argue with that!
