17/12/11: With all the hype and controversy surrounding the Logan Presents and SupermartXé 3rd anniversary, by the time we jumped on the tube for the 15 minute journey to Proud2 we knew George Michael wasn’t appearing and were actually quite happy about it!
Don’t get me wrong, we LOVE George, and we’re sure his appearance would have been nothing less than sensational, but our fears that it might have turned one of our favourite gay parties into somewhat of a media circus and diluted the shirtless, scorchingly-hot crowd with straight suburban middle-aged women in manmade fibres were relieved!
Anyhow, we rocked up to the mammoth O2, snaked our way through the cobbled streets and gained super-swift entry to the venue to find the dancefloor in full swing and DJ Aron (yum yum yum) playing big floor anthems with a twist.
At all Logan Presents events we have come to expect a stunning stage show with more sexy dancers than you can shake a stick at, and we weren’t disappointed as the red curtain drew back to reveal a dozen mirrored gods and the fantastic Saulo spinning overhead.
Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, the floor opened and X-Factor’s Kitty popped up on a stage lift and performed an amazing, over the top, camp, rock burlesque medley. An hour later, again working the stage lift, club diva Rebeka Brown wowed us with two sets of top tracks.
The dancers did their thing and the party went on ‘til almost dawn. No George but still a brilliant party.
