KU Coming Out Diaries
Our glitzy friends over at Soho drinking haunt Ku Bar, have put down their cocktail shakers for a second, to engage in something a little more sobering.
Thursdays Are Now A Fucking Good Time
Haha wow, this looks mad! And that’s not a criticism, we love mad! The madder the better! We’re mad ourselves here at QX. Honestly, the other day we tipped a coffee table over. Sometimes we don’t pay for apples at self-service checkouts. MAD.
Let’s Go Klubbing
The Ku Group is proud (ecstatic, in fact!) to announce the upgrade of their Klub venue. For 20 years the Ku Group have served Soho, and now, they’re taking West End Klubbing up a notch. Expect colour. Expect delicious music. Expect lickable boys... PLUS a new standard of decor, state-of-the-art lighting + sound, and colour to light up your soul...
This year, Ku celebrate their 20th birthday! They’ve been with us for twenty alcohol-soaked years! And in that time they’ve established themselves as one of London’s slickest, sassiest, sexiest gay venues!
Bank Holiday Bar Crawl
The Light Lounge
The Light Lounge is Leicester Square’s newest cocktail lounge, brought to you by the team behind Ku Bar (so you already know it’s got pedigree). It’s a gorgeous first floor boutique bar, bathed in natural light throughout the early evening, the perfect place to take a first date or stop in for post-theatre drinks. As the sun sets, atmospheric lighting changes to set the mood for the rest of your evening, whether you’re enjoying cocktails or something from their varied premium champagne and wine list.
Gay Dates For Straight Mates.
Ku just turned 20 and to celebrate the team have launched their all new Ku 20 campaign, complete with new uniforms for the boys behind the bar. QX caught up with promoter Nieko and owner Gary to find out more.
HIV Testing Week: Where To Go
Society has come a long way since the HIV epidemic of the eighties and nineties. Mainstream attitudes are gradually improving. HIV positive celebrities and public figures are starting to open up, and HIV positive characters in movies and TV shows are not unheard of. Stigma is being smashed every day. There have also been revolutionary advancements in treatment and prevention, with drugs like PEP. But new battles are emerging, with the rise of chemsex and the inexcusable lack of gay sex education in schools. Worse still the rate of new diagnoses is higher than ever.
Nieko Strobel is the sparkling smile behind Ku Bar’s Sambuca-spangled success. He puts the Ku in KUrageous and the Bar in wunderBAR! He’s also got a formidable tag-team behind him (so to speak). Among others, there’s fash mag slag Lady Lloyd, sizzling steak slice Rodrigo, and a harem of bar staff that would make Liz Hurley look up from Tatler and go “gosh!”
