Smoke Weed, Eat Pussy. Introducing Fucking Angie

Her name is Ängie, she’s got a song called Smoke Weed, Eat Pussy, and she grew up in a ghetto in the suburbs of Stockholm. Yes, apparently ghettos exist in Sweden. We’re picturing slowly rusting bikes and a bedraggled reindeer picking its way through a sea of Diam bar wrappers.

The coniferous forests and vaulting glaciers of Sweden have birthed some sonorous icons. From Robyn tumbling around to the dusky electro riff of Call Your Girlfriend, to beguiling galactical geniuses Niki & The Dove, to Loreen’s scintillating snowstorm of a hit, Euphoria! HRNNNK!

INTERVIEW: Dua Lipa

by Dylan Jones Beguiling pop starlet Dua Lipa is a melding of bohemian innocence and glitchy millennial abandon. She’s young, gorgeous and full of beans, and 2016 looks set to be her year. She’s had a smattering of number ones across Europe with her single Be The One, she’s on the BBC Introducing longlist, and she’s just been announced on the bill at Glastonbury. Most importantly though, she rides down Old Compton Street in a rickshaw in one of her music videos. We’ve all been there.

We’re LOVING Bebe Rexha’s new single

Words by Dylan Jones   Yes! Princess of sleazy underground pop Bebe Rexha has just "dropped" a new single! We've put "dropped" in quotation marks because we don't really like it but we can't think of how else to phrase it. Released? No, that's so 2013. Whatevs. Anyway, it's called No Broken Hearts, it features Nicki Minaj, and it contains the lyrics "don't feel the shame, just feel the champagne." Bebe first came to our attention last year with gorgeously unhinged punk pop banger I'm Gonna Show You Crazy, the video for which featured lots of netted tights and army boots and eyeliner. A bit like if Effy from Skins had a pop career. Anyway it was just the right amount of self-congratulatory neuroticism. Anyway we just played No Broken Hearts in the office and we're rocking out! Crack open the £1.50 vodka cranberry cans, it's FRIDAY! Oh wait, it's Wednesday. Oh well.   Listen heeeere: Oh, and she'll be touring the US from April! With Ellie Goulding, unfortunately.

Why we really, really, really, really, really like Carly Rae Jepsen

Why we really, really, really, really, really like Carly Rae Jepsen

The Canadian pop pixie responsible for the musical monolith that is “Call Me Maybe” (don’t pretend you haven’t held that imaginary Motorola Razr to your mouth in G-A-Y bar after a few jugs of Cheeky Vimto) is back with another earworm single by the name of “I Really Like You”.
