Did you have any idea this record was going to be so big when you originally recorded the vocal?
In a word, no. When I wrote it I wasn’t quite sure how people would take to it at first, as a few of the melodies I chose are quite weird and not typically pop. So I’m really happy to see and hear that people are enjoying it.
Do you ever go to clubs in East London?
Yeah, I play a lot of gigs in East London, and after coming off stage there’s so much adrenaline that runs through me. So it always feels good to go out after and let loose.
The track’s been really big at the club – are you looking forward to performing it? It’s the first live performance ever isn’t it?
I’ve performed ‘Sonnentanz (Sun Don’t Shine)’ a few times acoustically, but this will be the very first time I will perform it to track, and in a club also. It’s going to be a lot of fun, I’m excited to be able to perform and not have to worry about playing an instrument at the same time.
There are lots of people who’ve risen to prominence on the back of vocaling a big crossover dance record…
There are quite a few, it seems to be a great platform. I’m happy I’ve done it.
Have you got any favourite dance vocals?
Not sure I’d say it’s my favourite but I really like The XX remix of Florence & The Machine’s ‘You’ve Got The Love’. Does that count?

What’s next? I’m currently in the studio everyday working on my solo material, which I’m excited about and hopefully everyone will get to hear it all very soon.
