The Rite Stuff!

Promoter Wayne Shires’ twenty reasons to be at Summer Rites: Out on the Dock this Saturday…

The Trade set with the Filterheadz and Pagano – this will be MAJOR! Pagano always turns it out and Trade specifically asked for Filterheadz who are house and techno gold from Belgium. If you haven’t heard of them check them out – they are HUGE on the continent!

The amazing Lipsinkers! This troupe are fantastic. They take lip-synching to a whole new level and are razor sharp. If you’ve not seen them before at the RVT or when we’ve had them at East Bloc make sure you catch them. So much energy and a hoot a minute!

Roy Inc and Terry Farley in the Crash set in the main room – Roy is performing ‘Attention Kills’, ‘Minted’ and ‘F.A.M.E.’ from his new album, We Were Here, I’m Just Like You. Terry dropped at Handsome last month in East Bloc and the crowd went mental for it.

John Sizzle and A Man To Pet doing the Grizzle Show time in the Cabaret room – these two bounce off each like a page three girl’s tits! You’ll be drowning in a sea of glitter and 70s porn style eye shadow but these two painted ladies know how to get the party started.

The lovely Rod of Bright Light Bright Light DJing in the Sink The Pink arena, which is going to be bonkers (what else could it be?) and a man who has already had a fantastic year with his single ‘I Wish We Were Leaving’ featuring ELTON FRIGGIN’ JOHN is going to give a sprinkling of pop magic.

Hot Dave the Bear in the Bear brig – well, you know me and big, strapping men *blush*. Dave will be one of the many hot-to-trot bears with their paws in the honey pot this Saturday. Oh, I’ve come over all funny…

Dusty O holding court in the Trannyshack room – since Drag Queens of London on London Live, Dusty’s phone has been ringing off the hook, so it’s a good job we got in and booked her early. The ‘Shack have their own salon right by the dock and we all know where this wigged up crew is, there is chaos!

Lady Lloyd’s pants. Hopefully she’ll keep them on all day but with so many hot sailors roaming around who knows what could happen?!

Jonny Woo getting his bangerz out in the cabaret room – Miley Cyrus gets a rework from Woo. He’s even cut a new track for it that he’ll be performing – amazing! If you haven’t seen his Miley inspired promo video for the event check it out on the Summer Rites Facebook page.

The Dirtbox boys DJing – Gibson and the Duchess of Pork will be getting their Dirtbox right up in your face in the East Starboard room. One of my favourite nights at Vogue Fabrics will be bring the Dalston fit bits to the Dock.

Jeffrey Hinton! The queen in the house! Lord, this one’s been around even longer than I have and the reason he’s getting booked is because he’s FABULOUS. One of the best record collections in London and a chronicler of London club life for over thirty years (he even had a film of his footage from the 80s until now shown recently at the BFI). Legend.

Hannah Holland, Josh Caffe and The Lovely Jonjo in the East Starboard room – these three have been a big part of the east London scene since it first took off and all three have gone on to do amazing things: releasing their own tracks, playing Glastonbury this year, Hannah even has her own record label now with Batty Bass. Love them.

The Gutterslut boys ripping it up – the Slut has gone on to a new level over in Berlin and I’m super happy to have them back in London for this. This is vintage east end disco terrorism with a pig nose and lazer tits!

Momma Yvette is back! The Queen of the Fridge is gracing us with her presence for one night only.  It wouldn’t be Love Muscle without her so get down early to catch it in the Great Gallery.

The Clam Jam crew – Bica and Cathal have taken over Dalston Superstore with their girl-oriented nights. When you meet them you’ll know which one is the top 🙂

Sinitta and Hazell Dean! I’m a bit of (take that as HUGE) fan of the 80s and these two stars from the PWL label were top of the charts back then. Heart First was a brilliant album from Hazell and she’ll be performing the big numbers from it. As for Sinitta – TOY BOY! WHOOP!

Mr Teds doing Whitney – this is genius. You’ve never heard this particular mix of ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ or seen such a huge… (come find out!)

The Sexy Ginger Johnson

Ben & Ross from the King’s Arms showing the boys how its done. One of my favourite London drinking holes is brought to Wapping for a touch of butch realness. *clutches pearls*

Tasty Tim’s Mini Bar – I’m not sure the ‘mini’ part of this is going to work as Tasty isn’t afraid of a sherry or two. But she needn’t worry, there’s a whole bar on the dock just outside the Trannyshack room if the mini bar gets caned!
