Oh god here we go. Right. So. This is what’s happening. VFD, which used to be Vogue Fabrics, which used to be a shop that sold mangos and shaving foam but then became a gay club, is hosting a night called – wait for it – Granny’s Yard.
It’s being put on by performer Lasana Shabaz, playing the character of Granny Roslyn. She’s a ONE. Watch out for her. She’ll bake you a pie then strip to a house hip-hop stomper. Or she might bake you INTO a pie. It’s that sort of vibe. Apparently Granny’s Yard is a new breed of urban gay night.
Granny Roslyn is going to invite you into her home to bake a bit of bread, sing a little song, and spend a lovely evening with her crazy family. Who include Fierce DJ Mistamaker.
Can we just say, we’re writing about this as if it’s normal, but it’s fucking mental. It is isn’t it? It’s fucking insane. Oh well. We love insanity. Continue. Onwards into the mad abyss! Otherwise known as Stoke Newington Road.
