An oasis of debauchery in Central London!
We’re always rabbiting on about how the London LGBT scene needs to hang on to its gritty edge. And the great thing is, it IS hanging onto its gritty edge. Contrary to popular belief, despite gentrification’s frozen sanitized grin, there are still plenty of places to get down and dirty in our mad old city.
The Vault is one of them. It’s on an unassuming side street near Warren Street Station, in that jumbly amalgamation of restaurants, offices, posh uni halls and tree-lined residential urban bliss that defines that part of town. It’s the last place then, that you might expect to find a naked gay bar, but here we are! We love the idea that mere metres away, Sienna Miller might be at Budgens buying a melon.
Take a swift turn down the stairs into The Vault, and you’re suddenly transported from quaint central London heteronormative romcom land, to fabulously debauched queer Sodom. It’s a cruise and naked bar, where you leave your inhibitions and clothing at the door.
The concept of a completely naked bar is understandably daunting for some – but just remember, everyone else is naked too. Once you realize that, it’s a lot less scary. And there’s all sorts of body types and ages in there, with everyone very respectful of boundaries and preferences.
So whatever your predispositions, if you fancy something a bit less traditional and more adventurous over the festive period, head down to The Vault. You won’t be disappointed!
